X-Plane Quit Unexpectedly

If X-Plane quits unexpectedly or crashes to desktop (CTD), the first place to check is Log.txt. In most cases, the last line in Log.txt indicates the cause of the crash.

If xPilot caused the crash, the final line usually ends with --=={This application has crashed because of the plugin: xPilot}==--.

Log.txt is overwritten each time X-Plane starts. If you want to investigate or report the crash, make a copy of Log.txt before launching X-Plane again.

X-Plane also often writes crash reports to Output/crash_reports.

If you are reporting a crash, include both:

  • Log.txt
  • The relevant crash report from Output/crash_reports
